This is an incredibly short-sighted move, especially given the continuing popularity of poker. Too bad Revel doesn't seem to grasp this. If you look at the poker room rake for any casino, it pales in comparison to table games and slots, but most casinos still seem to understand the value of having poker players come to their venue. So Revel now loses out on all of the money that my travel companion and I would normally spend there. But because of my poker play, I won't spend any significant time in a casino without a poker room. We also ate in Revel's restaurants and took advantage of some of their nightlife offerings. I play some slots, and my travel companion exclusively plays slots. The thing that Revel overlooks is that, while the poker room may not have been very profitable, poker players and their travel companions spend money elsewhere in the casino.
